how are you going with

a drawing a day? It's very nearly over.
.
I have discovered some things:
.
I like to draw things in front of me, like spaghetti sauce jars

I like to look at clouds and draw what they make me think of.

I am not very good at doing things every day.

Sometimes I can't think of anything to draw, and I get annoyed.

I like fresh textured paper

but the back of envelopes are good too.

I'd like to keep drawing.

and I really love Gemma Correll's daily diary drawing set, drawn journal entries . I might try it like this.

cheezel tea

Some things I've drawn as part of 'a drawing a day'. I really like watercolours, but keep forgetting to do that stretch paper thing to get it ready, and so it buckles a bit. Why cheezels and peppermint tea? I was inspired to draw everyday things by this girl, they were in the pantry and they have pretty boxes. And I ate them both while painting. I'm enjoying drawing every day, a bit of a pain if I don't feel like it, but then I do a quick sketch and even that gets my fingers working and opens up possibilities.
.
Would you like to join 'a drawing a day'? Just start sketching, every day in September. You can put the button on your blog, leave a note on the original post and I'll add you to the list on the sidebar there with those lovely people.

sketch baby

I like to draw, I forget I like to draw, I forget the sense of satisfaction when you brush away the eraser crumbs and put your pencil or pen down and hold it at arms length and tilt your head, just so.

Sketching is an amazing way to be creative so easily, and can take you so many places. It's also a habit, so to get back into it I present a drawing a day.

The only rule is that you must draw every day. On computer paper, the margin of a book, on the back of a beer coaster, it doesn't matter. Big, small, it matters not. In pen, chalk, paint, ink, pencil, spaghetti sauce, that doesn't matter either. The point is to get back into the habit of jotting and doodling and sketching little things.

If you'd like to do a drawing a day you can put this button on your sidebar if you like, and leave a comment so I can make a list on the sidebar of who's playing along. You don't have to post every drawing you do, just one or two is fine, or you don't have to post any at all. We can visit each others sketches. That would be nice.
